While in Panama City, Panama, we wanted our accommodations located in downtown Panama City. The are plenty of hotels to choose from and at affordable rates but, I decided to book the Global Panama Hotel. It is in the heart of the city, among the hustle and bustle during the week. Global Panama became one of the hotels that I zeroed in on as I wanted to enjoy a more spacious room with a modern feel and affordable rates.
I ended up finding and booking the Global Panama Hotel after looking through multiple sites and finally booking it on Expedia (here). My stay was between August 30th thru September 3rd, which fell on Labor Day weekend. The rates for the hotel were slightly higher than usual because it was the U.S. holiday weekend. I ended up paying $130 per night for the room. Global Panama is a boutique hotel with only 60 rooms and suites. I enjoyed it as the staff was professional, friendly, and helpful.
My room choice was the Superior Suite because I wanted something more spacious during my stay. It was plenty of space, especially for two people, with the overall room size being 650 sq. feet. The room has a king-size bed, and it was comfortable. There's two nightstands, tv, and a small sitting area. What I enjoyed most was the corner room gave us great views of the city skyline.
The room also has a minibar that is stocked with water, soda, and other alcoholic beverages. There is also a small desk in the room with a rolling chair.
The best part of a nice hotel room for me is the bathroom, and this one is large. It takes up the other half of the room with plenty of counter space, soaking tub, shower, and the toilet. There's no door to the bathroom, but the toilet area offers some privacy as it has a frosted glass door to close it off from the rest of the space.
Some other features that the Global Panama Hotel offers are complimentary internet, a 24-hour fitness center, an outdoor pool, spa, onsite self-parking, and valet. Since this is a boutique hotel, there are no ice machines located on each floor. But, you can call down to the front desk and they will deliver ice to your room door.
There is one full-service restaurant and bar located inside the hotel called 54 East. The food is good. The inspiration behind the cuisine is more Mediterranean. I ended up grabbing a bite to eat there the first night and order room service one morning. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner at 54 East. I also cannot forget about the Happy Hour specials that they offered during our stay, as two for one drinks was available every day.
Overall, I had an enjoyable stay at the Global Panama Hotel, and I would stay at this location again. It made for a peaceful and relaxing stay during my time in Panama City.
